Our goals are simple: We strive to achieve the highest value for our entrepreneurs, our co-investors and our limited partners in as short a period of time as reasonable.
For our entrepreneurs, we attempt to consider the value of "life after the current deal." Many funds do not take the time to get to know their management teams. Our participative approach to venture capital allows us to work in a coaching and mentoring role with the management team of the company.
With our co-investors, we attempt to find common ground. We understand the differences in investment philosophy in both up and down markets. It is always necessary to measure the "appetite" of all of the parties involved in a funding before, during and after the funding. Because we always participate on the Board, our close involvement allows us to measure the dynamics of the investors and the company.
That said, we are not short-term investors. Our view of the market is that it takes sufficient time to develop a market, launch technology and develop a strong and adaptive management team. Subject to fund limitations, we will participate in all future funding rounds and have acted as a source of strategic relationships and potential acquisition partners. Because our fund managers have recent and relevant operational experience, we are able to provide useful information on funding and liquidation strategies on a near real-time basis.
