| In 1985, Mr. Thornton was the 23rd employee and Vice President of Finance and Operations for Aldus Corporation taking the company public through Alex Brown & Sons in 1987. In addition, he established the European operations for Aldus Corporation and was a member of the Board of Directors for Aldus Europe.
During the early 90's, Mr. Thornton was an adjunct professor of International Finance at Seattle University and lectured throughout the United States on international financial issues such as joint venture development, channel distribution and currency management. From 1997 to 1999, he was CEO for Lifespex Corporation, a startup bio-photonics company in Kirkland, Washington that included Hoya Corporation, Johnson & Johnson Ventures and Vanguard Venture Partners as investors. Mr. Thornton is a CPA and holds an MBA from Rutgers University. Mr. Thornton is a member of the Board of Directors for Bocada.
Jim splits his time between Seattle and Southern California by being active in both the San Diego Regional Technology Association and the Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association. Jim is an active member in various Seattle charities, an advisor to Pathways Medical Technology and involved in mentoring programs at Seattle University.
